General Traffic Directorate and the English Federation of Municipalities and Provinces are organizing the first meeting of cities for urban road safety. The event will take place in Gijón on 22 and 23 October 2009.
According to the organizers on their web site "the event is to disseminate, promote and develop good practice in urban road safety through the exchange of experiences between stakeholders at local level."
This will "put on the table all the issues pertaining to urban road safety: the politics of mobility, road design, the traffic calming, vulnerable road users, the bikes in the city, traffic education, surveillance, violations and penalties, accidents, victims, data collection, public participation and institutional collaboration.
Among the selected papers is dedicated to three different experiences of School Road.
