First meeting of cities for urban road safety, Gijón 22 and October 23, 2009 GUADALAJARA


General Traffic Directorate and the English Federation of Municipalities and Provinces are organizing the first meeting of cities for urban road safety. The event will take place in Gijón on 22 and 23 October 2009.

According to the organizers on their web site "the event is to disseminate, promote and develop good practice in urban road safety through the exchange of experiences between stakeholders at local level."

This will "put on the table all the issues pertaining to urban road safety: the politics of mobility, road design, the traffic calming, vulnerable road users, the bikes in the city, traffic education, surveillance, violations and penalties, accidents, victims, data collection, public participation and institutional collaboration.

Among the selected papers is dedicated to three different experiences of School Road.

SEVEN SCHOOLS PUT UP AN EXPERIENCE OF ROAD SCHOOL SCHOOL ROAD

Seven schools Mancha Castilian city have joined the program, Safe School Road, is within 7 public schools: Badiel, Cardenal Mendoza, Las Lomas, Pedro Sanz Vázquez , Rio Tajo, Rio Henares and Isidro Almazán.

For the development of the "Safe School Road" have been engaged in 7 women, unemployed, over 45 years within the Action Plan for Local and Regional Employment.

The initiative has actively participated in the Department of Safety, Mobility and Traffic of the City of Guadalajara.
